Favourite Megaman game?

In celebration of Megaman 9 i thought i would dig up the anniversary collection from a few years ago. My favourite is the first one :).Favourite Megaman game?
MegaMan X4, but I also like the legends games.Favourite Megaman game?
Probably X and 3 were my favorite.
megaman 2 and megaman X
Megaman 7 just for the awesome music.
Rockman Dash 2 for the Playstation.
I would have to say Megaman 3, followed by Megaman 2 and Megaman Legends.
megaman 4 was probally my fav overall. X2 was my favorite X game
The new ones are great, but we DEFINITELY need more like legends.
Megaman, Megaman X2, and X5.
Megaman 2 was the first Megaman game I ever played, so it definately holds a special place in my heart. That and it had some of the most awesome music for a NES game, period. After that, I'd say 7 and Legends were some of my favs. I never got into the X games too much
Definitely between MegaMan 2 and 3 for the NES. Just can't decide.
Wow. It's been a long time since I've played any of these. The only ones I played were Megaman 1 %26 2. I played a little bit of one of the ''X'' games, but I'm gonna go with Megaman 1 %26 2. Partially 'cuz they have horrendously awesome boxart.
2, 3 and XFirst choice is MM2, without any doubt
I would have to say Megaman 2 and. . . MEGAMAN SOCCER!
Megaman 4 and Megaman X2
Definitely between MegaMan 2 and 3 for the NES. Just can't decide.
Great avatar and sig.3 was always my favorite though I still enjoy 8 a lot.
For me I gotta say probably Megaman 4 and 5. Also, Megaman 8 really impressed me as well.
Original series: 1X series: 1

alright, so i decided to go on ebay to get my hands on a copy of ff7, i found one that seemed like a really good deal, even though i do have a ps3, but for 90 bucks i got a black label copy of ff7, and a ps1, and a controller and memory card for it, do you think that i got a good deal or that it was a little bit too pricey?rate my purchase
I don't know if you needed a memory card because are you playing it on your ps3? ff7 is just not my type of game but it does go for a hefty price so i guess it was a good deal. I am either guessing your ps3 does play ps1 games or you are playing on a ps1 pr ps2?rate my purchase
I'd say it was a pretty good deal, since you got a PS1 and memory card with the game.
no ttoo bad. For the game alone it would have been too much, but the system and card made it worthwhile
It's weird how much the price on FFVII has jumped just in the last year to 18 months. You could as late as 2006 get a used copy on amazon.com for like fifteen bucks.
i'd say it was worth it.

Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1

Have you guys played the Bionic Commando on it? What's up with that? It's certainly not the one I remember. I'm assuming it's an arcade version or something. Either way, it's horrible and it pisses me off that they didn't include the NES version.Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1
its the arcade version, remember all the games on there are arcade versions and were meant to be quarter munchers back in the day. Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1
Yeah, it's terrible...I was sad when I picked that game up.
I played arcade, first. It was good game. I rented NES's Bionic Commando. It was little different. It was still good. If you want to play NES's Bionic Commando again, then you may get NES version from Ebay, Amazon, or Estarland, or GBA's Capcom Classics Mini Mix with other two NES games- Strider, and Mighty Final Fight.

Need Help with an older Nintendo Game

I remember when i was younger i played this game on a Nintendo system that my parents either sold or got lost or something but I'm looking to find the system and the game on eBay so that i can once again play it. The main thing that i remember about the game is that the characters are frogs, it is a multiplayer game and you are frogs that can pick up like swords or whatever to kill bad guys and then once you have killed enough bad guys you play the bosses. I remember one of the bosses being a giant hand that smashed out of a wall and then tried to crush the characters. If anyone has any idea which game this is it would be much appreciated. ThanksNeed Help with an older Nintendo Game
Battletoads? did it look like this:
Need Help with an older Nintendo Game
Yeah, that's definitely Battletoads.
i think he should call up one of those used game franchises, and ask if they have any copies of Battletoads. which one should he call, though... which one...
Yep thats it thank you

samurai showdown bust/slash

wat the diffrence between bust and slash in the samurai showdown games?samurai showdown bust/slash
The slash/bust system was only present in Saumurai Showdown III and IV. It basically represented a 'good' and an 'evil' version of each character. Differences between the two characters was mainly a slight different moveset for each, but that's about it.samurai showdown bust/slash
Slash ''Shura'' comes from an ancient Japanese war God. Bust ''Rasetsu'' comes from a Japanese demon. They're basically two different personalities which can represent the characters. In Samurai Spirits IV specially. the differece between $tyles is quite drastic. Most of the characters play totally different from one $tyle to another.
really there diffrent? i cant even tell lol

what game for ps2?

i just need a game for ps2 that isnt rpg or anyyhing like fantasy stuff. its a game reccomendation. what game should i get?what game for ps2?
The Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto series are good to play.what game for ps2?
Easy, if you like blood, midless violence, and awesome deaths in the collosseum, Shadow of Rome is the game for you.Check it out
Either God of War games. Both are awesome.
Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Ratchet and Clank Series, look in the PS2 recommendation thread.
Hitman Trilogy, MGS 3, RE 4, GTA series, Bully
click the ps2 in my sig. There are lots of great games that are not RPG's. If im not playing RPG's, I usually prefer hack n slashers, fighters, or racing. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is the only FPS I love to play over and over and over. I definately enjoy RPG's the most though.
Jak and Daxter series. dominance.
i think it should be bully and yeah does anyone know if LA noire is cumin for da ps2

Can't go wrong with God War 1 and 2. Very fun and challenging games.
god of war is good choise or any need for speed series and burnout series

The must own GG games

You mean Game Gear right? I thought you meant good game. When I had the game gear, I had super columns and one of the sonic games. But I somehow lost it.The must own GG games
Sonic drift 2
Shinobi II: The Silent Fury

Shinobi

Virtua Fighter Animation

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic Chaos

Sonic Triple Trouble

Ninja Gaiden

Battletoads

Wonder Boy

That should get you started.
Sonic Sonic SONIC!
dont forget columns
I loved the gamegear and I think it was the only system that my mother actually liked because it had color lol. My mom thought the gameboy wasnt as good. The GameGear would have been better if the battery lasted longer but then i bought an AC adapter. Yeah I dont know if i am going to buy any more games for it though. I wasn't looking for suggestions i was just asking for opinions. The games are cheap though and mabe i will check out street fighter or ninja gaiden.
Shinobi II. Great handheld game. I liked Woody Pop too, childish and simple but fun.
I loved all the sonic games on the GG, as well as columns (finished it several times).I also had a game similar to the fire emblem ones, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, any suggestions?

I played a lot of NBA Jam on that system. It was a friend's though. The games I owned were: Robocop 3, World Series Baseball, George Foreman's Boxing, Formula One, that's all I can remember. Nothing outstanding, I know. I mostly played World Series Baseball and Formula One. I received the blue Game Gear for one of my birthdays. It must've came with WSB. Wish I woulda had a Sonic game.

on any platform? if it is which console has the best version cuz i was looking at it and its on nes, gb, and snes. by best i mean best cost to quality ratio lolis yoshi's cookie a good game?
The game was pretty rubbish to be honest, just another cynical Tetris clone that loads of developers seemed to be churning out at the time (Nintendo included). I had the Game Boy version, but I can't imagine there's much to choose between them. If you want a game like this, go for Tetris Attack on the SNES (re-released on the N64 as Pokemon Puzzle League), it's loads better. Or you could just get Tetris...is yoshi's cookie a good game?

I remember buying that when I was a kid thinking it was a real Yoshi game. I took it back to the store once I figured out it was just a puzzle game. Thankfully Nintendo released Yoshi's Island in 1995. Now that's an SNES Yoshi game worth playing.
I own Yoshi's Cookie on NES and It's alright but too easy. The graphics look terrible on NES. SNES looks way better.

i liked Yoshi's Cookie. i had the SNES version. i would plug it in, and then pop some music into my CD player and play away. however, i agree with the other posters. Tetris Attack is much better... and at the Very Hard difficulty setting is nearly impossible to complete without a lot of practice.

do you have to pay yojimbo to attack?

In FFX i recently got the aeon, yojimbo for a price of 1,910,000 (the nerve of that aeon!). i lost most of my credits and now i only have 1,500 gil. so i decided to check how strong this aeon could be. his introduction in battle is dramatic and to my surprise, his magic gauge is zero! to my surprise, you only got two options: either to pay him or dismiss him in battle. is he always like this? how about if overdrive modes, do you have to pay him for that attack. i only summoned him once and spent 100gil for an attack then dismissed him (i'm saving up my gils for support items just in case). by the way, his attacks varries to the amount/value you pay? do you have to pay yojimbo to attack?
Wow you overpayed for him. You should have looked up him on Gamefaqs so you can see how you're supposed to hustle him for a lower price. And yes he asks for pay to attack everytime. I simply gave him 1 gil all the time, and he gave me satisfactory results. do you have to pay yojimbo to attack?
whaaaaat!! he offered me his services for 2,500,000 and he asked again for 2,000,000. and finally down to 1,910,000. how about his overdrive attacks, will you still pay for it?
I recently paid for his services too. I didnt want to let him go since I wanted to get all the aeons, but once I summoned him in battle and found out I had to pay him again I immediately dismissed him. Havent summoned him since. :P
The only 2 reasons you get him 1. Required for certain things and full completion. 2. Cheesy 1 hit kills on bosses assuming you pay enough.
The only 2 reasons you get him 1. Required for certain things and full completion. 2. Cheesy 1 hit kills on bosses assuming you pay enough.
3. using him as a shield against powerfull attacksyou only have to pay 1 gil except you want him to kill the enemy with one blow, in that case you have to pay a lot of money, having the special attack gauge full only makes this attack a little bit cheaper but you don't need to fill the bar at all
Hey,You have to at least pay Yojimbo 1gil for him to do anything, paying him 1gil will probably trigger his weakest attack in which he uses his pet dog to attack for him (his weakest attack is still pretty good tho)To make him do better moves you have to pay him quite a bit more money, I've heard depending on what stage of the game your at and how much gil you have personally will effect how much gil is needed for which attack. Reminder - He only uses 3-4 attacks Hope this helped, Visit my profile and leave a comment if it did :D

Phantom Dust

I saw Phantom Dust at GameStop for a really cheap price ($4) the other day and was kind of hesitant to buy it because of the card battle system. I've never played that type of game and was wondering if it's anything like turn-based fighting or a completely different system altogether. Feedback on the game and the combat is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Phantom Dust
i've never played it either, but for $4 I'd say it's worth the risk.when i'm looking at games to rent or buy, I usually search the GameSpot website. The combination of professional reviews, and fan based reviews rarely steers me wrong... and if they happen to not have a review (which is rare) they even link to other site's reviews. Very helpful. Phantom Dust
It's an alright game, but the 'card game' is bull. You have a list of abilities that you can use during a battle, and it might seem like a card battle thing, but when you play it's nothing like that. It's worth the 4 bucks, however, it takes a LONG time to get started. Expect the first few hours to just be learning missions.
Not really a card based system. I played the game years ago so I don't remember the exact style, but it is more real time. You select your spells that you want to use but fight continues while you do.
It's actually a really sweet game. Very Japanese, if you will but good none the less. It's similar to the Metal Gear Acid games if you've ever played that series except combat is done at real-time. You create a deck with different offensive, defensive and physical abilities. During battle orbs will appeal and you equip said orb on to one of the four face buttons. Then you commence with the battle; this is all done on the fly during real-time which adds a lot of intensity to the fray since you're strategies have to adapt quickly. Personally, I was really happy they released this game on the xbox. My only complaint would have to be the length, otherwise an extremely solid game.
Phantom Dust is an awesome game. The game is great, and the combat system isn't really like a card game. You pick certain spells to put into an arsenal, and then they spawn in a location on the map in a random order. You pick them up and use them against your enemy. The card thing is somewhat of a misnomer.Definitely get the game.

Did u ever own a TG-16 and/or a Saturn?

I consider the Turbo Grafx-16, and the Sega Saturn to be the 2 most obscure systems.
I just want to see how many people here owned either one, or both of these ill-fated consoles.I owned neither. But I've known a couple people who did. Just a couple though.Did u ever own a TG-16 and/or a Saturn?
I had a Saturn and I loved it. I miss being able to play a near perfect port of X-Men COTA or Street Fighter Alpha or World Series Baseball. I had both. Bonk was my fav system on the TG16 and the Saturn I remember going nuts on In The Hunt(Submarine game). I loved both of these systems
Yes I owned both, along with a 3d0 and a vintage Commodore 64 as my obscure systems. They were all good systems, but Saturn really struggled with 3d, 3d0 had a lot of games with quality issues, and TG-16 had expensive games that you could usually beat in one night.

• Help naming these 2 old games!

Hi, there's 2 games that have been on my mind recently, which i used to play many years ago.The first was for the PS1, it was a overhead figher, you'd fight in like a arena, you'd be monsters, i can remember one was like a scorpion so you could call it a ''Party'' fighter? The second is for the Gamecube, it was a racing game similar to Mario Kart, but i only remember battle mode as that's what i used to always play with my freind, i can remember the graphics being cartoony, and that one of the weapons you could use was a spear which would pin the other kart to wall.If anyone could name any of these, it'd be greatly apprecicated, because theyve been doing my head in! Help naming these 2 old games!
for gamecube you may mean ''freaky flyers'' or ''cel damage'' for the other game, I have no idea, you don't give enough information to remember the game if you haven't played it for hours,I haven't play the 2 game I mentioned before, but finding information about them was never that hard.Help naming these 2 old games!

its probably your disc, where did you place the disc after you finished playing?did you let someone see it or borrow it?
Nope. And I keep my discs in pretty good shape, too.I guess I had a stroke of bad luck.

Need a name of this Arcade game.

I played this years ago in a arcade once, it was a beat em up where you would go around taking out zombies, from what I remember you can knock of there limbs to so it was quite a gory game, I think you are chasing a scientist around or something (not splatter house). Also it was co op so there was more than one playable character, I remember one guy had metal arms; I know this is a weak description but any help would be great. Need a name of this Arcade game.

Game controller problems

I have three controllers, one wireless, and they don't work. One doesn't do anything, the second does random things, and the last which is the wireless, the X button on my Kingdom Hearts game does not let me attack (yes, I put new batteries and it still doesn't work). I blew in the plugs and they still don't work. Why? Is it because they're old? Is there a way to fix them? I can't buy any because I only have four dollars.Game controller problems
I have PS2 controllers just to let you know.Game controller problems
It could be a problem with your controller ports. Do any of your friends have a Playstation you could test your controllers on?
My neighbor does, we used it two nights ago and it worked. But the reason I don't want to borrow it, you don't wanna know, seriously, you don't want to know.
If your controllers work on his system and not yours then you've probably got bad ports. Either replace the ports or buy a new system.

PS1: Does anyone remeber the game overboard!

i Remember i always used to play this for the ps1 it was a top down third-personish boat game were the boats had a cartoony look about them and you manuvered your boat around the waters and could should cannonballs. This game was pretty hard, but that was the standard those days. I love this game. I was going to do a playthrough of all 20 levels for my VGgameplay project on Youtube, but we kept running out of lives and eventually had to give in lol. Great game though. I strongly recommend it. I think it was released under a different title in the US though.

Dragon Warrior - The Fighter's Ring (NES)

Yes. The Fighter's Ring many people have asked about, even I questioned. I read assumptions on it, the fact that if you took it off and on and such during battles, the enemy would run away. I quote a guy who wrote about it, ''Horse ****''. I've noticed, once you are holding it, enemies seem to just run away at a higher percentage, even most that're a wee bit stronger than you (and this doesn't have to do with level). Otherwise, I see no other logical purpose aside from its small selling price, which I'm going to sell it.Dragon Warrior - The Fighter's Ring (NES)

RE vs. SH -poll

Well, which do you like and what are your reasons? I prefer RE. I belive that RE games are thought out and have excellent replay value...also, I like zombies.RE vs. SH -poll
Silent Hill. It's actually scary for one and it's art direction, sound design and storytelling (at least within the horror genre) are without peer. IMO the dark, psychological torment the series gives easily outclasses the cheap and cheesy, B-movie shocks of the RE series. They're are always full of extra material and the multiple endings give plenty of incentive to replay them. Silent Hill 2 in particular still stands as the greatest horror game I've ever played. RE vs. SH -poll
silent hill is scarier but i have always enjoyed killing zombies, so its re for me,^^
Big fan of both, I do like my horror games. Resident Evil was the first game to really scare the hell out of me, not only that but its defiantly one of the most memorable games I have ever played, even though the series has took a different turn it is still one of the greatest series of all time, I find RE relies heavily on jump scares what is the opposite of SH. IMO Silent Hill has far superior story, characters, atmosphere, emotion, music, horror than RE, SH games are truly scary and always keeps you on your toes, it psychologically pins you down and barley ever lets you up, I also think SH2 is the greatest horror game of all time.
the resident evil games are a lot more better than the silent hill ones
Depends i play both, and love both, i have to say, silent hill scares the**** out of me, im used to re though, i do get the occasional ''jump'' but thats it, but i think i have to go with RE
For me RE is better even though Silent Hill is ok i just like RE more.
Resident Evil
Hard choice. Silent Hill is FAR scarier and has a better atmosphere, but RE is more fun to actually play.
I just got tired of killing zombies. sure RE has the better gameplay but i am more into the story and the development of characters like in SH2. So i am going with Silent Hill.
HTML clipboardI do not really think the two series really compare that well to be honest with you. Silent Hill is more story driven and relies more on the psychological terror aspect whereas the Resident Evil games are more just in your face heart pounding action paced. (Especially Resident Evil 4) Now if you were comparing the Fatal Frame series to the Silent Hill series then things would get interesting.....
Resident Evil. Obviously. But i can see myself liking Silent Hill more in the future with the route that RE has taken with 4 and 5.
i rate RE higher mainly because of RE4 which is one of the best games ever in my opinion
I don't like survival horror much so I go with RE since 4 has fun gameplay.
Silent hill for cerebral horror Resident Evil for visceral horrorEven though they are of an identical genre with a similar overview they arent really comparable games.

Baroque (PS2 help)

Anybod ycare to explain this game to me? I bought it and I'm just basically item collecting and hack and slashing down levels. The cutscenes tell me nothing and why is it that somee brandings i can use and others I cant. Why can't I fuse my baroques either? I threw one in one of the conciousness orbs and grabbed it off the Collector and took it to Baroquemonger but when i gave it to him nothing happened? Can anybody explain how to truely play this game and beat it?Baroque (PS2 help)
Well I havent played it but from what I know, there is something you can do... Die. Since you are stuck and there is nothing else to do, die and see what happens, some events will surely open up inaccessible areas.Baroque (PS2 help)
unfortunately that only works to an extent. As far as I've gotten I can't unlock anything else from dying.
I hate this damn forum.... I just typed a butt load of stuff and pressed submit and this site then told me I wasn't logged in.... and erased all my dialog. This seems to happen every time on this damn forum.... Why can't gamespot check the requirements of log-in before you enter the forums and not after you hit the submit button..... Or at the very least have it to where it will take you back to your written stuff.... (BTW: my screen name was in the upper right corner as if I was logged in....)Anyway.... lets see how much of this crap that I had already written,,, I can remember. You can only equip one brand per life.... there are brands that will remove brands but they are hard to come by. I think the insect girls will drop them, but by the time you start seeing them, you probably won't care about what brand you have stamped on you, by then. You'll be about 6 floors to the bottom by then... and will probably be bypassing enemies in finding an exit, by then, too.The crystal orbs... can only be fused to a crystal sword. Which are about impossible to find. I only found one in about 20 deaths so far, and I got it by fusing two items together on that bronze looking scale thing that shows up every 4th level or so. I didn't even use it because I had a better sword equppied and then I lost the crystal sword due to death... Seem the crystal orbs also unlock titles. Think that's what happens when you give them to that guy. Outside a game you can load a save and see your collections... one of the list has to do with titles.. I'm guessing most of the titles comes from those orbs, when you have that guy look at them. But not sure on that. Also on the collection list there is one for voiced dialog. And the last icon seems clickable... so I guess something happens after you collect a whole roll of dialog. And the NPC's say different things when you throw stuff at them, hit them, and whatnot. So it's probably going to take a whole lot of effort to unlock all this stuff. There is another collection list of items... Which means you have to send every item in the game to the outside world, I'm guessing the more different items you send the more stuff the runt can hold for you. The problem is that you are lucky to find such a location to send stuff out every 6th floor or so.... and you can only send out 1 item out per thing you find in a level. so neatless to say...it's going to take forever to send every item to the outside. And will probably be impossible to keep track of what you've sent out. Although, i recall the game saying something about the item being a different color if you have it in the collection list.... But I don't remember if that is throughout the whole game or only on the screen where you retreve your stuff (which, would be pointless.)Overall, it looks like this game is really short as far as things to do. Seem the main tower is only 16 floors deep... Maybe the floors get deeper as you unlock stuff? I should have left this one at the store... don't think this game is worth 40 bucks.... probably not worth 20 bucks. Seems to me the main goal of the game is to make everyone happy in it before you reach the bottom of the tower... But how to do that....I have no clue. The game is to vague for it's own good.
Unfortunately it seems that's the entire case allright. As I've progressed in the game Ive started trying out different things with the characters I find and basically the main goal of the game since its so short isn't getting to the bottom of the tower but rather you're to collect all the seraph ideas and basically fill out the database...and yeah I dont' think it is worth the 40 dollars I paid for it but I'm not one to throw out games so I'll beat it and keep it in my collection. I mean it's nice for hack and slash if you're bored and ticked off.
i saw adam and morgan reviewing this game last night on x-play and it looked horrible...
I've noticed the color change... When you highlight an item in your inventory...if the description title on the bottom is in red, then you've sent it up already. Also seems like a number of titles or baraque names, are given to you by how you die in the dungeon... Get killed by an enemy stepping on a explosion plate, or by eating into a boom bone, and you get a title unlocked. I don't know about my previous theory about the crystal obs unlocking titles... have yet to get one that way. Have noticed that in the character list you get text unlocked for every cryastal orb that goes with the character. Some characters have a whole lot of entries, too. And if purifying those round dudes in their gages is a one time only thing.... then I missed almost all of them. So, I suggest you send everyone of those orbs up and have that corner guy look at it, 'cause if it is a one time only thing.... guess I'll have to start a new game with the previous database to finish that collection of crystal orb descriptions.
its not horrible ive played it
if the game wasnt too hard it would be great game... no matter what you do your life decreases with time and sometimes life heal items dont appear much... so the game becomes really pain...but its a rogue-like game, so its like real life experience. noone tells you stories out of nowhere, you should go to find people to tell you stories. when you die you just reborn and start from where you started again... i liked the game but it was painfully difficult... in one time i found heal items easily and i went to lower areas easily but in another try,i couldnt find even one heal item and died at 5th floor...its just a wasted game, sadly
haha same here dude, actually to die is the best thing in the game, thats what i heard of it, but you will restart from lvl 1 again kinda suck but i kinda like the game saving it for winter
check the FAQ's/walkthrough on the game board. if i remember correctly there are a couple real good ones in there. i got this game too but haven't had time to play it yet (i literally have a back log of about 50 games and the majority of them are RPG's)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. My mom and I are playing Magical Melody and we are on our 10th year, going on our 11th, and we have not caught a shrimp yet. Is this normal? ...and really don't like it so far. The way you move is terrible and the camera ***** up everything. Does it get a little better as you go along, or is it crap the whole way through? So I just bought Genam Onimusha...
I liked the original Onimusha on the PS2 and I'm pretty sure Genam is the tweaked one on the xbox, right?Depending on how long you played (2 hours? 4 hours?), the story develops, but that's basically the gameplay. I don't recall much of a dynamic change. This game was really the early last gen version of Ninja Gaiden (only much easier). If you didn't like it within 3-4 hours, you're probably not going to.

opinions...should i buy the metroid prime games
It depends what kind of gamer you are. If you like fast paced action then the Prime's probably aren't for you. If you like intense puzzle solving, atmosphere and a story you have to discover on your own then you'll enjoy them. The Prime's are all very tough games and require a lot of patience to enjoy. If you haven't already, I'd reccomend watching some video reviews so you can see how they play.should i buy the metroid prime games
If you haven't already, I'd reccomend watching some video reviews so you can see how they play.
Absoutely. I like FPS's slow or fast, but I didn't like Metroid Prime. I didn't like the way the game played with shooting doors to enter them and researching enemy info. My friend Ryan loved it but I did not.
Well, seeing as the original Metroid Prime was hailed by many as one of the greatest games of last generation, there's a good chance you'll probably like it. I loved it. The game is incredibly atmospheric and full of little details that, when taken as a complete package, are quite amazing. There's a fair amount of replayability (hard mode, finding all of the items), as well. The graphics were top tier when it came out, meaning the game still looks pretty damn good today. Yeah, you can watch video reviews etc on it, but honestly...the game is going to set you back like $5-8 for a used copy online. Unless you are extremely hard up for cash, I say just dive in and experience it for yourself, because that's the only way to know if you like it or not. Even if you decide the game isn't for you, I'm sure you'll find $5 worth of enjoyment out of it. If you like it, problem solved-go out and buy Prime 2 and 3.
i only have the handheld games but i like them. like someone said just watch videos first
thanks ill check out the videos then
The games have scored highly across the board, and the first Metroid Prime is considered one of the best games of all time.Of course, none of this matters unless you like the gameplay or not. It's hard to say if a game's good, because it's all a matter of opinion.
I don't care much for the Prime series.I suggest just getting the first game used($7 barely more than a rental) to try it out.
Should you play two of the best games of the past 10 years? Yes!
You should check out Jeff's review here on Gamespot. Nails it.Now if you're expecting an FPS you'll be disapointed. Metroid Prime is an adventure game done in FPS style. The game looks simply astonishing for its time and still holds up quite well. If you're a gamer that can apriciate subtle things like beautiful environments, clever puzzles, and exploring, then you will thoroughly enjoy this game. I suggest if you liked Ico, SotC, or Shenmue, this game will fit just fine in your library. But try the first game to see how you like it. No use in jumping the gun.

So I bought a SEGA Nomad.

I got in a bidding war on eBay over a Turbografx-16 and lost. So I was about to hang myself when I stumbled across a mint condition Nomad with a handful of games, an AC adapter, and an extra controller. I've wanted one for quite some time, and I only payed a total of 58 dollars (including shipping) for everything.

So anyway, I had a few questions.

1) I know that battery life was never a strong suit of SEGA's handhelds. I was just wondering what kind of battery life I can expect with a brand new set of NiMH rechargeable batteries. I know it gets 4-6 hours on two alkalines. Can I expect an increase, a decrease, or about the same on the NiMH?

2) How well do games translate, screen-wise? Is the resolution drop off huge? Are any parts of the screen cut off?

Thanks guys.So I bought a SEGA Nomad.
Sucks on that Grafx. :(

Its been a loooooooooong time since I used a Nomad. I remember the screen being top notch, but regular AA batteries would last me 3-6 hours.
So I bought a SEGA Nomad.
bid wars suck
I would like to know if the text would be legible in a RPG on the Nomad. For example- would I be able to read the text for Shining Force II?
Sucks on that Grafx. :(
Yeah, but it's ok. I think I'll just save up and spring for a TurboDuo anyway. I've seen them around for 140.
The screen is not bad. It's not great, but I think you should be able to read text fine. It eats up batteries quickly, I can tell you that much. One neat thing about it is that you can connect it to a TV and play it. You can also connect a controller to it.
So no ones knows how NiMH performs vs alkaline?
So no ones knows how NiMH performs vs alkaline?
I think it's about the same but there are various factors involved. Some alkaline batteries are better than others and the mAh rating affects how long rechargeable NiMH batteries last.My advice: Get two sets of rechargeable NiMH (2500 mAh) batteries for your Nomad. Have one charged at all times so whenever they run out, you'll have a spare ready if necessary.
I bought a Nomad in 1998 and have used it infrequently since I bought it, maybe 1-2 times a year to test games. Over time, the screen quality has deteriorated. When I first bought it, the image was really good. Now it's kinda grainy. I'm going to imagine in 5-10 more years you won't be able to see much more of the screen, but who knows. Just trying to give you a warning if you're buying one of these sight-unseen.

Ahhh you're lucky :) I've been trying to get a NOMAD for quite some time. It's a really cool system. As fat as battery life goes, it is of my understanding that its about the same as the Game Gear. My game gear lasts me 6-8 hours normally. As far as rechargables go, I'm not sure. You'll have to test them out yourself ;)
you'll have to tell us how well it works when u get it. I bet even with NiMH batteries it will still end up going dead in a few hours. My atari lynx is like that, and my cousin's gamegear was the same way. The only handheld that has ever lasted very long is gameboy. the original and gba didnt have a backlight so they didnt need near as much juice. The lights for those old screens just eats up alot of battery power. I would recommend u just have 2 sets of batteries. and dont be surprised if you end up draining both sets. then you'll have to wait a few hours to charge them back up.
The Neo Geo Pocket Color gets 40 hours on two AA batteries.

But I did find that NiMH batteries helped a lot in my Game Gear. A set of 2500 mah NiMH batteries lasted 7 hours, 44 minutes compared to 5 hours, 22 minutes on a brand new pack of Duracell alkalines.

Final Fantasy II Dawn of Souls: How cheap is this tactic?

*LIGHT SPOILERS*Well, I got to the Sergeant guarding the Mythril, and failed since I did 0 damage over half the time.Due to this, I got the idea to hurt Minwu, and switch their (Minwu and the Sergeant) health. It failed the first couple of times since Minwu got beat by the Sergant, but I pulled it off on the 3rd or 4th try. I then proceeded to use a Fire Tomb I found, and won.So, on a scale of 1 to 10, how cheap of a tactic was this? Final Fantasy II Dawn of Souls: How cheap is this tactic?
Not that bad.. Not as bad as me that is.. Last night I spent four hours at work slashing myself and casting spells on myself to level up. I did this while fighting goblins which hit me for 0.

Get the original if you can, it is far better than the remake.
New or used? If it's new, then hell yes... if it's used, then you could probably get it for cheaper. And it wasn't a reprint a few months ago, they were just getting rid of extra stocks in the Konami online store.
Get the original if you can, it is far better than the remake.
That doesn't really answer his question, and the ''which one is better'' is up to personal opinion.

i bought twin snakes like 2 years ago for 5 bucks on ebay. woot! i guess people took advantage when mgs4 came out.

I bought that game new for $40 back in the day then played it so much I sold it to EB Games for $25. I regret it every day of my life.:cry:this is insane
yeah it's insane but there are other games that are offered for those insane prices nobody with a clear mind should be ever willing to pay.just look at THIS
I saw this at EB for $70. I don't understand why the price is so high on it...
Yeah, this game needs a psn or live marketplace release to gut the market on this game, I have a copy but I am nervous every time I take it out of the case to play it.
it's high because capcom only made a limited number of them and capcom and marvel are fairly popular right now, specially with all the superhero movies being made. but yeah , i can't imagine someone forking out $1,500 for an old ps2 game lol. let alone $90-$500
Yeah, its especially insane considering the game isn't spectacular.
hmmmm so i guess i should be glad my copy of MvC2 didnt cost me a penny.
damn even on ebay its pricey
the Dreamcast version is superior anyways...you can get it on ebay for ''buy it now'' price of $50-70. I got mine for $50...worth every penny.
I saw this at EB for $70. I don't understand why the price is so high on it...
It had a very limited print run on xbox and ps2 due to Capcom's license agreement with Marvel expiring.

yeah it still is insane. I wouldnt have payed $80 for the game brand new. but all these years later? I dont think so. At least the Xbox version is cheaper. probably plays better too.
I bought a Dreamcast copy for $3 at a thrift store =D

New SNES and NES systems

I currently have a SNES, but recently I have been playng my friends NES. Now I really want one for myself, so I've been looking at these systems that play SNES and NES games. How are these?Would playing NES games with a SNES controller feel weird?Where can I find NES games for a decent price?I've been looking at the Retro Duo System, and Yobo Top loade.New SNES and NES systems
I wonder about those myself because my NES is dead. And the way my SNES is acting it may not be to far behind.New SNES and NES systems
I have an FCTwin somewhere around my house and it worked fine last time I played it. The only problem is that it doesn't work with some games correctly, but I don't own any of those. Wiki - FcTwin. Has a list of games known not to work with it.
I'm not a fan of the FC Twin. The Generation NEX is nice though. Plays NES and Famicom games, and you can use your original NES controller.
i got a yobo fc console nes , , is great , but some games may not run im unsure yet , as i only have about 25 and all of them work
I use a FC-Twin also and haven't had any problems with the games I play with it. The controller layout for the NES games is a little weird, you use Y and B for the main buttons with X and A as the turbo buttons.

I missed my SNES and its games for a long while ever since my mother gave it all away...

...until I lucked out and got another one that's in fairly good cosmetic condition (as in no yellowing) with a gamepad and a bunch of games for five dollars at a garage sale. Unfortunately, that deal didn't include an AC adapter, nor did it include some of my favorite SNES games that I used to have so long ago, which probably means that I'll have to pay more for an AC adapter and an extra gamepad than I did for this entire set thanks to shipping!

I also miss my NES to a degree, but that's mostly because my NES game collection had Crystalis, Bionic Commando, and Legacy of the Wizard among all the cartridges. I want those particular games back!

How to tell when a Genesis game has bit the dust

I've just recently bought some megadrive/Genesis games and so far haven't been able to get any of them to work. I notice that they fall into the following camps: (1) some have a greenish/greyish tinge in the contact area (2) some have a rust-red tinge in the contact area (3) some I can get garbled sound fx and graphical glitches out of when I try to play them and (4) some are completely unresponsive. I've tried cleaning the cartridges with dry Q-tips and, as a retro gaming site recommended, with some mild glass cleaner and Q-tips.Edit: They're working now, thankfully. Looks like you were right Shark. How to tell when a Genesis game has bit the dust
well I had the same problem with my super nintendo after trying play it after like 6 years. but after i kept trying now it always works. so it just had to warm up. this might be the problem with you

Revisiting the Past.....

Well back when i as around 7-11 years old the i played lots of Pokemon Games. Me and my 2 best friends played it night and day. We went to the same babysitters and played it there all day long. But recently ive gotten rid of all my game-boy games which included all of my Pokemon games. I quit around the time Fire Red and Leaf Green came out. I dont own a DS but i was just wondering how much the games would cost if I bought them used at gamestop, and how much would a Game boy advance SP would cost if i bought it used??? Im planing on buying.... Ruby Sapphire Emerald Crystal Silver and Gold. I really want to revisit my childhood. Any now about the price this would cost?Revisiting the Past.....
you can get a second hand DS for around $100 plus shipping on eBay. it plays GBA games, as well as the new ones.you could get a a GBA SP really cheap, usually under $25. and if you want really old school, go with a Gameboy Color. You can play all the old games from the first two gens of that handheld on it. I've seen them for about $20 - $25 as well.eBay and Amazon are your friends, if you have a credit card, at least. Revisiting the Past.....
Dont buy a DS, because it doesnt play GBC games, ive seen GBC for $10 used at game crazy or gamestop dont remember:P ruby, saphire and emerald go for $35 each, leaf green and fire red are $20 each, about $17 used, not sure about gold, crystal and silver though:cry: (i got crystal WOOT) and GBA SP go for $50 new and i guess $25 used like the other guy said(not sure though)
Im planing on buying.... Ruby Sapphire Emerald Crystal Silver and Gold. I really want to revisit my childhood. Any now about the price this would cost?
Why are you going to buy all three from each generation? They're essentially the same game, but with slightly different pokemon in it. You could save a lot of money by just buying one from each gen. I would suggest getting either Red/Blue as well, or at least FireRed/LeafGreen. The first gen has the best memories for me :P Also, if you buy a GBA SP, it can play every main pokemon game except for Diamond/Pearl.As for prices, I see FR/LG in stores new for $20 all the time. You could get Gold/Silver for mabye $10-15 used. R/S/E is more like$15-20 used.
I miss my Pokemon games too. :(I, like you, sold all my pokemon games away though I recently bought Pearl.I have been watching the prices on these old Pokemon games as I too have considered rebuying them. These are the prices that I have seen (well near me anyways):GBA SP: $45-50 usedGBC:$10-15 usedPokemon Red/Blue: $7-8 used (Haven't seen Yellow anywhere)Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal: $10-14 usedPokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: $15-20 usedThe main reasons I haven't purchased the old Pokemon games are because GBA SPs are much to expensive and that I'm afraid the internal battery would be dead in R/B/Y and G/S/C (means they can't be saved)Hope this helps!

• PS2 Power Source Unit slightly busted...can I get a new one?

The PSU for my PS2 Slim is a bit broken. I can still play PS2 and everything, the only trouble I have sometimes is that if the cable near the jack in the PS2 wiggles a bit, the PS2 stops getting any power at all. There are no cuts in the wire so I'm guessing that it's an internal problem, is there any way I can fix this (other than placing the wire in a way that it won't move) or is there somewhere where I can buy a new PSU?PS2 Power Source Unit slightly busted...can I get a new one?
youd have to call up sony, you should be able to seeing as sony is still supporting the ps2PS2 Power Source Unit slightly busted...can I get a new one?
If you have a locally owned used media store in town, they should have some. That's where I got one for my PSone acouple of months ago. EBay or Amazon should have them for sale as well, just stinks to have to pay for shipping. When peoples consoles die sometimes they'll sell working parts to game stores for this purpose.
You could ask gamestop if they have any extras they could sell to you.

golden axe comes to mind but not sure
X-Kaliber 2097 for the Super NES not Genesis. Its the only game i can think of that matches your criteria and i highly doubt there was a genesis title that matches your question as closely. Are you sure you have the right system in mind?

Were PAL cartridges ever created for Super Mario RPG? Is this a hack? Super Mario RPG PAL Cartridge!?
This defies all my knowledge of 90's gaming :(Super Mario RPG PAL Cartridge!?
What!?!?I don't know what to think of this, but item location - the algarve, dodgy...
Due to old quarrels between Nintendo and Squaresoft, Super Mario RPG never came out here in europe, so no PAL version exists.

Due to old quarrels between Nintendo and Squaresoft, Super Mario RPG never came out here in europe, so no PAL version exists.
Then what is that cartridge!?
Hm... no manual, it doesn't mean a thing, but I suppose it's one of those hong kong pirate cartridges that populated the european black marked during the mid-90s. Basically they used to take the case from another game or reprogrammed the chip inside with a fresh ripped rom. I managed to test some of those back then and they worked very poorly. They were and are illegal and for ?99 you'd be crazy to buy it.
its probably a pirate one, and he printed out his own label sticker for it, that did catch me a little off gaurd for a second, its a very convincing fake, im not even sure if the seller knows that its a fake, seeing as he is using paypall for it and he has 100% positive feedback
Well, hold on a second: the fact it's a pirate copy is likely but not confirmed. Also, probably the seller doesn't even know what he's dealing with. I think the best course of action would be to e-mail him, explain what you think, and hear his version. Then, if he still claims it's a legitimate copy (against all evidence), report the suspicious item to ebay.

I think we've answered the question as to whether or not this is a legitimate copy. It is not.
