Which ps2 rpg should I start playing??

Alright, just got myself a little stack of rpg's and was wondering on some opinions on which ones I should start on first. here is my listStar Ocean 3

Tales of Legendia [/QUOTE]***Dragon Quest VIII was my favorite RPG of last gen. It's a must play*** (DQVIII FTW) Star Ocean 3 is pretty good if you like the whole ''sci-fi'' thing. The battle system moves nice and fast, but the story/VA can be a little painful. Xenosaga is a good game if you love to watch your game more than you play it. I've never played an RPG with so much expositionTales of Legendia is my least favorite of the Tales games from last gen. If you have a Cube, pick up Symphonia instead. If not, Abyss is pretty good for the PS2 and would be a much better alternative to Legendia. That being said, Legendia isn't a bad game by any means. I just didn't enjoy the art direction or story all that much. Odin Sphere is really the odd one out here. It's an amazing game, but not an RPG in the same sense the above three are. It's a 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up with a beautiful setting, magnificent story telling, and some RPG elements thrown in. Which ps2 rpg should I start playing??

Out of your list, id say play Dragon Quest VIII first
it will keep you occupied for a good 20hrs or so.
The possibly play Xenosaga : )

[/QUOTE]20 hours? You're either the best RPG gamer ever, I'm the worst RPG player ever, or some combination of the two. I easily spent 70 or so hours on the game, and that was without touching a lot of the extra and bonus content.

Haha i never said you could finish the game in 20hrs, just that it would keep you occupied for that long.
i actually have spent about over 50 hours playing it, and thats only cause i wouldnt play any other game, nor do anything else : P
I dident like dragonquest though I may give it another chance someday. Legendia was pretty decent. Odin Sphere I recently got and havent played much of, the hype is good but who knows so far. Star Ocean 3 and Xenosaga are both excellent games. Personally I cant pick between them so I just have to say choose one of these 2.

1. Odin Sphere - its action based and it is probably the shortest one on your list.
2. Xenosaga - Klassic rpg, but its fairly fun and It didnt cause me to take a break so thats a good thing.
3. ToL - *twirls finger* waste of time. Boring combat, boring mechanics.
4. Star Ocean 3 - is this the 2nd chapter or till the end of time? Till the end sucks. Its action based but man what a let down after how awesome the 2nd chapter was.
5. DQ8 - Stupid cartoon graphics, stupid lame combat, stupid lame story. Sell it and buy a nes and get DQ1-4.

In other words you wasted your freaking money and now your going to waste your freaking time.Do you have Dark Cloud 2, .Hack GU 1-3, Phantasy Star Universe 1-2???? I doubt it, and those games make your list look like vomit.

I would say play DQVIII first its an excellent RPG. Then play Odin Sphere, its a pretty tough game, but in the end I was glad to have played it. I would stay away from legendia considering its the worst imo of the 3d tales games. As for xenosaga I could only get through the first 5 hours and stopped because there were way too many cut scenes. For me personally story is a pretty big factor in a rpg, but not if I never get a chance to actually play the game. As for star ocean 3, well I've never played, but am thinking about buying in the future.
Final Fantasy XII...if I could ever get my PS2 back from my little sis I'd love to finish it.Once again Dragon Quest VIII is full of SuperNES days goodness

Mediocre at best. I'd have to say that Dragon Quest VIII is probably the bext example of a classic RPG with a relatively high difficulty (in before you must not be very good) and some nice cel shaded art direction. A very pretty and well made game that got some, but not all the attention it deserved. I'd say play that one first. Xenosaga...I applaud anyone who could enjoy it. Just not my kinda game.
