is the xenosaga series good?

and is it really finished by episode 3? because from what i've read. it ended prematurely with only 3 episodes as supposed to be six.is the xenosaga series good?
I have only played the first one and it was alright. Klassic rpg gameplay. I would have definately finished that series except for the fact that if you beat the first episode and save the game it prevents you from continueing to play and level up your people and since I played it when it first came out I was going to not be able to work on my people for months so i just deleted my save file lol.

Didnt bother to keep up with the rest after that. Did you ever get to drive big mechs like in Xenogears??? Thats all I wanted in a Xenogear sequel. Still I liked the graphics and the story and the combat was as good as it could be for a piece of crap klassic rpg. is the xenosaga series good?
They are all rather short for console RPGs and they don't have a lot of sidequests but if your looking for a good story they will deliver. I thought the story was amazing. If you don't mind getting into the world and the universe you'll have a great time, especially if the idea of watching cut scenes and listening to dialogue for half an hour at a time appeals to you. They are almost more movies then games at times.
I'm enjoying it. Just be prepared for a lot of cutscenes.
xenosaga was one of the best ps2 rpg's i've played (although many will disagree). the story was nice, the gameplay great (IMO) and if i can get my hands on ep 2 and 3 i will definitely get them. you can get epsiode one for almost nothing on ebay, so even if you don't like it you won't lose much...
I played and beat all three of them so here goes. The first one is the best, the second is the worst and the third is quite a good game. Each comes with a set of minigames but one of them is obviously more fleshed out than the rest, these super minigames are very good in all three Xenosagas and can suck up a fair few hours themselves. To play the game straight and get a few things here and there expect to play 25 hours each, go for more and you are still talking 40 hours each. The storyline is very good though it can get a little confusing at times, many small references which you might miss out on. I was walking in a museum the other day and noticed the name of some artifact (cant remember it now) and it was a word that was used in Xenosaga, brought a big smile to my face.Music is sparse but used well, there is not much more to add about it. Gameplay caries game to game and all offer tweaked battle systems that are enjoyable and tactical enough to use. Unlike the first Xenosaga you can actually continue playing after you beat the final boss in the other two games so maybe thats an incentive for you. Mech battles improved throughout the series and the last game really reminds me of Xenogears which is as good as it gets with these mech battles.
I've only played the first one and I absolutely loved it. Cutscenes are long, but I never mind them seeing as how the story is interesting. The gameplay is nice and the characters are likable. In my opinion at least.
hhhmmm it seems that only a small percentage played through 1-3... what's the reason? coz' if the story is good why stop after playing the first episode?
I own all three, and I have beat both 1 and 2... they are all very good games, and the cutscenes are well done! Only downside of the series to me is the fact the space setting seems restrictive at most times and very repetitive... But, I guess that is the point of the series! Overall I'd give the series as a whole a 7.5 out of 10 8)

Its pissing me off, and shopping online is not an option for me yet.
i thought it was forgettable. i don't know how far i got into the game before i realized i really didn't want to finish it. story had good moments, but it just didn't stick with me (which is weird since i spent half the time watching more than playing). the mechanics and customization werent that good with me. plus the characters werent all that consistent in strength when it came to gameplay. i still MIGHT finish it, but it seems very unlikely unless i want to start over again.
ok.. thanks for the replies guys.. it seems that this game isn't a must have title..

i'd say the xenosaga series is real good. the toss up for best game goes between the 1st and 3rd for most people. i prefer the 3rd tbh because the combat is somewhat faster
Very good. 1 and 3 are fantastic and 2 is decent, even if the battle system isn't very interesting.

[/QUOTE] Ep1 had a minigame dealing with driving the mechs.... you must have missed it. If I remember, you had to do the tutoral part again (via that simulation savepoint thing.), and instead of dealing with a Boss, you opened a treasure chest, and the item recieved allowed you to play the mech simulation minigame.
Ep 1 was very good. Ep 2 was awful gameplay wise. Ep 3 was the best imo.
yes!!!!!! It is very good! It was going to be a 6 part game, but it did not sell well so they tied everything up in number 3.
Yes.
