Is Star Ocean: Till The End of Time a good standalone game?

Or would I be lost, not having played the other titles in the series? Is Star Ocean: Till The End of Time a good standalone game?
it's a good idea, the relationship with the story isn't very great till the point that it doesn't matter at all,I like that much'' star ocean the second story'' that I never like ''till the end of times'' so ask another person how good the game is.Is Star Ocean: Till The End of Time a good standalone game?
You won't be lost because it's part of a series (I think only the setting is the same, characters are different) but it's just a horribly made game. The combat was actually pretty fun, but battles are incredibly tough at times. The story is boring and really slow, the voice acting is pretty bad.
Waste of time and money unless you are really into Star Ocean.

you will do fine
yes it stands alone with two disk,
The voice acting is fine.... Play 'Chaos Wars', then you'll experience what bad VA is really like. There is really only one character in SO3 that will make your hair stand up... and she doesn't have a major role in the story. She's sounds like Minnie Mouse. Farleen I think is the ingame character's name. Most of the VA in SO3 seem to be the same from Xenosaga Ep1, from what I've noticed. The story is okay too... the beginning is just very long. It'll take about 2-4 hours before you get to actually play the game. Within that first 4 hours the only battling you'll do is a tutoral section (which is the only place you can activate battle trophies, so if you want to activate it, you best do it then. you'll need over a meg of card space, though. And the rewards are probably not worth it, unless you wanna play the game in a harder difficulty mode later on. Or for bragging rights, which no one really cares about, anymore.) and a single short battle.... where I don't think you even get credit for, experience point wise... although, you can still get killed.Although.... the ending pretty much sucks. Really, the only PS2 game that Tri-Ace has managed to create a reasonable ending for is, Radiata Stories. VP2's ending sucked, too....
Yes. I'm playing it now and I'm really enjoying it. I've never been lost at all.
If you want a PS2 RPG with a space meets swords theme, try Rogue Galaxy instead. The Battle System is more fun, and the story is stronger. It can be really hard at times, but there's a ton of customization available, and more weapons than you'll know what to do with.
