Secret of Mana

I just picked this up off of eBay, and am really enjoying it so far. Any of you guys remember this one? I don't think it's as good as Square's other SNES games but I do enjoy the real time battles and classic 16 bit graphics and music. Sadly, the translation seems to have suffered in this game, more so than other games from this generation.Secret of Mana
Its my number #1 favorite SNES game....and definitely in my top 10 games of ALL time. The weapon variety, customizable AI settings, boss battles, 2-3 player co-op, LONG story, HUGE world, magic spells, later on in the game you get your own dragon to ride, and the last boss is SO BADASS with probably the best SNES song ever created. Secret of Mana
I enjoyed it, but I hate the character's running animations.
one of my all time top 10 games...if you like it, try its sequal: SUIKEN DEITSU (something like that)oh and the story has one of my all time favorite twists at the end of the game. not going to spoil it but near the end pay close attention to everything in the environment.
Secret of Mana is amazing. It has one of the best plots ever seen in a JRPG, a great combat system, a truckload of weapons, powers and special moves, it's very long and there's so many types of armor to find you'll likely never get them all. The multiplayer mode is a blast, I managed to play it with a friend and it's pure cooperative greatness, I wish they made an online version. My only complaint is it's brutally hard every now and then
The snake boss in Matango forest anyone?
Hi I played Secret of Mana when it was first released. The music in the game was composed by the famous Jeremy Soule I believe. My favorite song from the game is the ''Horace Camp Theme''. Hope you enjoy the game as much as I did. It was one of the few games I actually finished because the story was so good.
I enjoyed it, but I hate the character's running animations.
and the running into rocks/getting stuck animations?
I love Secret of Mana. The music is just great. I played it for hours on end when it was first released.
one of my all time top 10 games...if you like it, try its sequal: SUIKEN DEITSU (something like that)
the game you mean is seiken densetsu 3, seiken densetsu is the Japanese name of the ''mana'' saga, and secret of mana original name is seiken densetsu 2,though the first one was for gameboy, can't remember the occidental name of the game. seiken densetsu 3 was never officially released outside japan but you can find translations made by fans in some emulators.
such a great game. so amazing!so many good bosses, too.take your pick of the last 4 bosses; all of them are outstanding (although Thanatos is the best, imo).how about the boss of the ice fortress? never saw a game with that guy as an enemy!

Greatest boss ever, and the lol's occur only after you beat him. I wouldn't spoil it for no reason.
One of a few games I have on my wishlist here. I've heard nothing but positive things, and after that bad-play-control disaster of the PS2's Dawn of Mana, I sure could use something that flows better and actually has places you can go to...not just big labrynths to navigate.(Aside: A shame that game's quality suffered in the play / enjoyment area.....the music and graphics were great) I didn't buy it back in 1993 because of its expensive tag....$70-80 at most retailers in my area. If they just sold that multi-tap device seperately, it would have been down to $55-60.My only worry is hoping the game's battery works if I find it someday. I heard SNES game save chips / batteries don't quite last as long.....there seems to be more people having to replace those than the ones that NES carts used. Not something I couldn't do myself with the right tools (screw bit, replacement battery and clips) but still an annoyance if it had to be done.
Yeah it is a great game. You should check out the sequel which is just as good as the first one. Only problem is that som 2 was never brought to the states. So if you want to play the sequel translated you'll have to use other means ''wink.''
I didn't know they sold Secret of Mana with the multi-tap. That's expensive, but I remember paying $80 for Chrono Trigger new back in 1995. Speaking of battery backup, I've never had a problem with my SNES games deleting saves, and I've still got Super Mario World.

Secret Of Mana was so awesome that every mana game since then has SUCKED!!! I also still have a SoM poster hanging on my wall that I got in an issue of Nintendo Power hehe.
