When I started playing my dad had an NES and a Genesis. If I remember correctly I played the Gen first because it had Sonic and my dad only had sports games for NES (at the time).Best console of all time?
Mine was the SNES. Check out the Woot Legacy forums post for a bunch of other peoples first systems.
My favorite so far is the X-Box 360...Don't know why, I've just never had so many hours of enjoyment on a console until the 360.
The N64.
Playstation 2. I've never spent the amount of hours on ANY other console and I doubt I ever will.

I'd have to say PS2, from all previous generations (excluding PS3, X360 and Wii).
PS2, for the same reason as Soul.
The 360 followed closely by the Genesis.
I have to go with NES or SNES. Both have a staggering amount of awesome games. I probably lean more towards the SNES though.
The SNES is my favirote console followed by n64 and ps2.
I'd have to say that my favorite system of all time is the Sega Mastersystem. But the best system ever is the Playstation 2, for the huge library of great games, and the fact that it's completely compatible with the PSone.
Definitely N64, no contest. I've spent countless hours with that thing and I still play it. My brother, sister, and I used to play multiplayer on it almost daily. Many of its games are still some of the best around. My favorite N64 games:

- The World is not Enough
- Mario Kart
- Mario Tennis
- Mario Golf
- Super Mario 64
- StarFox 64
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (also 1 %26 3, but 2 is my fav)
Playstation 2
If I can count the fact that the PS2 plays PS1 games, I'd say my favorite system was the PS2. If I have to go off of that console's games exclusively, I'd say the PS1. Tons and tons and tons of great RPGs, plus Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite games of all time. A close second would be the SNES for its great RPGs as well.
