Gameboy Advanced Gameshark SP Compatibility Question

Ok, I'm trying to buy a gameshark for my twelve year old nephew, the problem is, the only gameshark I can find for GBA is the one that says gameshark SP, online it sayd that its compatible with gameboy advanced, sp and micro, on the box it sayd that its gameboy advanced sp and gameboy advanced micro, shouyld I risk wasting twenty bucks to get it?
