Problem with genesis OR controller?

I just bought a sega genesis off ebay and got it in today. The system works fine, however the A %26 B buttons don't seem to work on the controllers. Is it possibly that the system is doing this, or possibly just a coincedence that the same buttons on the controllers don't work?Problem with genesis OR controller?
If it's been used before, high I bet it has, then the buttons on the controller is ruined by the previous owner.Problem with genesis OR controller?
I've had alot of problems with used Genesis controllers not working well...so I say it's probably the controller you have.
Every controller it came with though? I'll just buy a new controller and test it out. I mailed the guy about it to let him know.
i think it might be a coincidence.
hmm i would try a 3rd controller that u get somewhere else. and then be sure it plugs in nice and tight. then if that one dosnt work well either, then its the console. u shouldnt spend more than $8 really.
Gonna borrow a controller off my ex girlfriend to see if that works. I guess ex's are good for something.

Did. I'd rather not send everything back unless I know it's the system. So I bought a new controller to test out. Even if it is the system....I paid $36 for a sega, 2 joysticks, 2 controllers, 29 games, and a 32x
